About the ILC

Why We’re Here

“We long to see people flourishing in community using the languages they value most.”

In 1971, the International Linguistics Center purchased one hundred acres in southwest Dallas, Texas, USA for the future location of SIL's headquarters. In time, the International Linguistics Center (ILC) would also provide office space for partner organizations, as well as classrooms and administrative space for academic training (first Texas SIL and now Dallas International University).

We serve faith-based organizations and students to advocate, build capacity, and work with local communities to apply language expertise that advances meaningful development, education, and engagement with Scripture.

John Toliver, Center Director

Coordination for and director of the International Linguistics Center which encompasses offices for SIL International and other partner organizations.

Doug Pape, Business Director

Provides administrative oversight to the ILC departments including: Housing, Dining Hall, Boutique, Warehouse, event support, and manages leases for office spaces.

Rhonda Buckingham, Executive Secretary

Office receptionist.

Bob Schattschneider, Director of Facilities

Manages ILC facilities and provides administrative oversight to ILC departments including: Maintenance, Landscaping, and the Pool.

SIL Global

SIL Global, a faith-based nonprofit, partners with 1,530 language communities, representing over 950 million people, in 107 countries. SIL’s 4,373 staff from 86 countries work alongside thousands of volunteers and partners from local communities worldwide. The International Linguistics Center hosts a significant portion of SIL’s global services, coordinating with work across five continents.
